Step 1
Lightly sketch Rupunzel in. Use an HB pencil for the sketching stages of this drawing. Sketch in basic guidelines.
Step 2
Start out with an extremely basic sketch of the figure.
Step 3
Sketch in Rapunzel's hair.
Step 4
Start defining the lines with a darker pencil. A mechanical pencil with B lead was used for this drawing.
Step 5
Continue defining the lines. Working from top to bottom is usually most convenient.
Step 6
Define the rest of her dress and her legs.
Step 7
After defining the outline of her hair, lightly shade over the entire drawing. Use an HB pencil and a blending stump for this.
Step 8
Shade from head to toe to hair. A B pencil can be used for dark shading along side an HB pencil. A 3H pencil can be used for light shading. Blending stumps can be used to smooth out the shading.
Step 9
Shade in her torso and arms.
Step 10
Shade in her dress and legs.
Step 11
Roughly shade over her hair with an HB pencil. A tortillion or blending stump can be used to smooth out the shading.
Step 12
Next, use an eraser to erase the highlights and lighter strands of hair. Sharpenable erasers come in handy here.
Step 13
Finish up the drawing by refining the hair and background. Try to go over all of the outlines to make them bolder.
