Step 1
Start by sketching a basic rose with a 2b or HB pencil.
Step 2
Outline the rose with a B or 2B pencil, then shade in the background.
Step 3
Work on the rose from its center outwards. Use HB and 4H pencils to define the outlines in the center.
Step 4
Shade in the center using a 4H pencil.
Step 5
Work outwards while defining the outlines of the petals.
Step 6
Shade in the petals using a 4H pencil. Use a kneaded eraser to clean up the highlights as well as a blending stump to smooth out the shading.
Step 7
Shade outwards using a 4H pencil.
Step 8
Finish up the drawing by shading in the rest of the petals and cleaning up the outlines and background.
