Start out with some basic guidelines.

Sketch out the face lightly using either an F or HB pencil. Erase any unnecessary guidelines.

Start lightly developing the features. Start with the eye and eye-patch.

Develop the ears, nose, and mouth.

Roughly shade in the drawing. Use an HB pencil and a blending stump or cloth.

Erase the highlights from the head. They are mainly on the right side.

Shade in the background. Use 4B and B pencils.

Start adding final shading starting with the eye and eyepatch. Use 3H and HB pencil for the skin.Use B and F pencils for the dark shading.

Shade in the ears and forehead.

Shade in the nose and cheeks.

Shade in the mouth and facial hair.

Finish up the drawing by shading in the clothing. Go back and clean up the shading and lines as well.
