Step 1
F and 8B pencils for this tutorial. Use either one to sketch. sketch the basic guidelines of Jack's face.
Step 2
Sketch in the facial features. Don't worry about details yet. Just get the idea down.
Step 3
Sketch in in the rest of his head starting from the top.
Step 4
Sketch in his hair.
Step 5
Roughly shade in the background.
Step 6
Blend in the drawing using a blending stump.
Step 7
Erase the the main highlights of the face.
Step 8
Use a soft pencil to darken the facial features. Use a 6B pencil for this.
Step 9
Define the eyes. You can continue using a soft pencil or use a harder one like HB or F.
Step 10
Roughly shade in the top half of his head using a 6B pencil.
Step 11
Blend in the shading using a blending stump.
Step 12
Build the details of everything above Jack's brow.
Step 13
Define the bottom half of Jack's face.
Step 14
Roughly shade in the hair on the right side of his head using a 6B pencil.
Step 15
Use F and 6B pencils to define his hair and jewelry. Shade in the right side of the background as well. After that use a 6B pencil to roughly define the hair on his left side.
Step 16
Finish up the drawing by defining his left side and blending in the rest of the background. Rework any details that need to be reworked. If the 6B pencil isn't dark enough try using 8B or 9B pencils.
